I don't celebrate Valentine's day, but I have nothing against it either. I actually think it's a quite nice occasion to let your loved ones know that you care about them. Sure it's a very commercialised day, just like Christmas, Easter and so on and people do start to question if we are still aware of the true meanings of these days amidst the roses, chocolate, etc. But I think generally people need days that they can celebrate and look forward to.
I bought a butterfly cookie cutter a few weeks ago and today I finally had the chance to use it. I am pretty happy with the cut out butterflies, they look adorable and cheerful. I used nori and soy paper to decorate the butterflies. These cuties are sitting on top of kakiage (mixed tempura) sushi maki. The red heart is made out of paprika flavoured cheese and the white daisy is made out of goat cheese and cheddar cheese. The pink and purple flowers are my new food picks (they are actually simply paper stickers plus toothpicks :)).
The other bento box is filled with 2 grilled Vietnamese-style pork skewers, 1 sweet mini paprika filled with feta cheese, 1 ham flower, tzaziki and radish kimchi.
The yellow orangy drink in the mug is mixed-fruit juice. The mug is designed by me, it's my rabbit Wilchen juggling with onigiri :).
