Chicken Teriyaki

Chicken Teriyaki is one of the most easy-to-prepare dishes I know. The ingredients only include soy sauce, sake, mirin and sugar (and sometimes ginger). I have even tried making chicken teriyaki without sake and mirin and they still taste very good. The trick is simply to make sure that the sauce caramelises well - but this is easy, because the sugar will do the job for you. The only 'hard' thing to do in preparing this dish is actually cutting down the chicken in stripes (I suppose, this really lets you know how hardcore easy it is to make chicken teriyaki).

Ingredients:
  • 2 Chicken breasts, cut into stripes (or cubes)
  • 100-150 ml of soy sauce
  • 3-4 tbs sugar (or more if you like it sweeter)
  • 2 tbs sake
  • 4 tbs mirin
Oil your skillet, add chicken stripes. Wait until your chicken stripes are a bit brown on both sides. add all other ingredients. Now you can just wait until the sauce thickens - that's it.

Sprinke your chicken teriyaki with toastes sesame seeds (optional) and serve with rice and salads.
