As promised, here's my husband's non-charaben (character bento) bento lunch: beef steak, toasts and salad. One thing which I like about making this type of bento is that it's absolutely not time-consuming, it's just like normal cooking. The only difference is you simple assemble everything in a bento box instead of a plate. I quite like the look of this bento lunch, it's simple but somehow elegant. I think I will make more bento lunches like this in the future :).
CG's Simple Salad
- Cucumber
- Tomatoes
- Corn kernels
- Mozzarella cheese
- Black olives
- Sweet peppers
- Olive oil
- Dried majoram
- Ground black pepper
CG.... give me someeee....

ReplyDeleteermm..i feel like going out to sea on a sampan to have a picnic after looking at your bento!! HAHAHA!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, but I'm drawn to the absolute straightness of your toast points. What a great contrast to your slices of beef!
ReplyDeleteI like this salad, and pictures are great!
ReplyDeleteHi from France.
ReplyDeleteYou've got a superb blog and your bentos... wooo, gorgeous.
PS : Oh, sometimes I wonder : "how can she close her bentos ?"
Deliciosa y preciosa como siempre.
ReplyDeleteSaludos
@ Anonymous - You've got a point there and actually this question has been asked by some other people too ;). I usually eat my bento meals at home, so I never really have to close the bento box, I also like to arrange the foods that some protrude from the box for the sake of pretty photos. If I want to carry the bento box somewhere else, I would definitely make some of the bits and pieces smaller that it's possible to close the box.
ReplyDeleteHi CG, your traditional bento looks yummy too! :D
ReplyDeleteBtw, I've got some awards to share with you! http://lyntrinix.blogspot.com/2011/05/another-surprised-on-mothers-day.html

Wow a steak bento... my husband will envy your husband for sure. I start to feel you don't need plates or bowls in your house, but you need all sorts of bento box! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe toast is beautiful!!! :-)
ReplyDelete@ Nami - I do actually find filling in bento boxes very charming ;)! I still use my plates and bowls of course, but for something artistic, bento boxes are just better (at least that's what I think at the moment...;)).
