The platychicks (platypus/chicks) are characters created by San-X. There is not much information about them which I can find in the net, but I know that they belong to the Kamonohasikamo series.
The platychicks are made out of quail eggs and the pink ones are tinted with beet juice. The beaks are from cheddar cheese and the eyes from nori. They're lying on top of a bed of wild rice/long-grain rice. I also included one fried shrimp ball which I made this morning, half an egg, half a cherry tomato, one deli-meat flower, lettuce, a few slices of sweet pepper and cheese flower.
The salad bento box was my husband's and behind it is stir-fried turkey breast with spicy green bean sauce (the sauce is store-bought).

Your color tinting skill is perfect! I tried coloring my eggs and it always turned out patchy or not as lovely..
ReplyDeletePlatypus used to be my favourite animal when I was a child (I found the duck's bill on a hairy animal's head very unusual and cute). I have never heard of platychicks, but they are very cute too!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable! And tasty looking. I'm eternally impressed by your creativity!
ReplyDeleteI am now thinking of using bocconcini mozzarella, since quail eggs are not so easy to find here :-). Lovely bento, as always!
