Moo-Cow Rilakkuma Bento

I have to admit, I didn't make this bento to eat it. I made it for fun, that's why the lack of 'yummy' ingredients. Just eggs and rice, they don't look so appetising, do they? To be honest, I am still very busy, so to get away from my pile of work, I sneaked into the kitchen and made bento instead *uuppss* ;). So for the time being Rilakkuma has to stay overnight in the fridge and I'll probably eat him tomorrow for lunch with a side dish - Wow, I do sound quite brutal, don't I...;)!

Rilakkuma's face is made out of soy-sauce tinted hard-boiled egg and the cow suit of rice and nori. The two little chicks are quail eggs, tinted with turmeric and the facial features are from nori.

  4. The moo-cow rilakkuma is adorable, but I am particularly impressed by the feet of the chicks! How can you cut them so well? Do you need a special cutter or can you use scissors?

    ciao and thank you

  17. I can relate very well to this kind of procrastinating - I usually use my piano or blogging to keep me from working. ;) The bento is very cute, as always!

  18. @ Alessandra - I used a nori puncher (for quail eggs) to make the feet (and also eyes, hair, nose) - a lifesafer when you make something tiny :).
